Thomas Norris, Alex Mathieson, and Stewart Spiers made infill planes using the finest brass and steel. They hand cut the dovetails and peened together the metal shells of their infill planes. They stuffed these shells with exotic woods from around the world. One hundred and fifty years later their infill planes out-perform modern cast steel and bronze planes. Their planes are the standard against which all other planes are measured. |

The goal of Gabardi & Son is to have woodworkers 150 years from now singing the same praise for our planes.
The process hasn’t changed; we use files of all shapes and sizes, hack saws, chisels, and hand planes. At Gabardi & Son, we believe that handmade means that you use hand tools, not machines.
Please spend a few minutes looking around. Thumb through the pictures of our planes and dream a little. Read our family history, find out what “Leave Your Legacy” means to us, or look through the shop notes and the archives at the featured planes and the latest company news. And when it is time to commission your perfect plane, let us know. |
