Bench planes range from 5 1/4 to 29 1/2 inches long.  The most common is a smoothing plane that is 7 to 10 inches long.  They have blades from 1 1/2 to 3 inches wide, with or without chip breakers.  There are too many blade angles to list.  Some have totes (handles), others don’t.  Your favorite bench plane may have an adjuster, mine does not.  My point is simple, there are many bench planes and many uses.  Everyone’s needs are different, so everyone’s perfect plane will be different.  Call or email me and lets talk about what kind of woodworker you are; how you use handplanes; the kinds of woods that you are most likely to use, etc.  Only with an understanding of your needs can I create your perfect plane.  So let’s plan on spending a few minutes getting to know each other and talking shop.  ~Matt
